SA Indian Routes is a free, publicly accessible genealogy research tool. It provides access to historical records of Indian indentured labourers who arrived in South Africa between 1860 and 1911. The Site is intended for genealogical research, historical education, and cultural heritage preservation.

The records on this Site are sourced from historical documents originally preserved by the Gandhi-Luthuli Documentation Centre at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. While we strive to present these records as accurately as possible, please be aware that:

• Names were transcribed by colonial officials who may not have been familiar with Indian languages, leading to spelling variations
• Some records are incomplete or contain missing information due to the documentation practices of the era
• Ages, dates, and other details may contain inaccuracies present in the original documents

We provide this data "as is" from the historical sources and cannot guarantee the completeness or accuracy of individual records.

You are welcome to use the Site for:

• Personal genealogical and family history research
• Academic and educational purposes
• Non-commercial historical research
• Sharing individual record links with family members or researchers

You may not:

• Scrape, bulk download, or systematically extract data from the Site by automated means
• Use the data for discriminatory, defamatory, or harmful purposes

The historical passenger records are sourced from public archives. The design, code, branding, and presentation of the Site are the intellectual property of Pluribus Tech and are protected by applicable copyright laws.
